Best food to eat and to avoid during summer

Dubai summer is just around the corner and scorching heat is for us to bear again. You know summer is the time where we can change our wardrobe into something lighter and more comfortable, but did you know it is also the right time to change our eating habit? Maybe a bowl of soup or a piece of steak is not so tempting just because this food can cause our body temperature to rise and making it hotter for us.
Being exposed to outdoors more often can make us sweat and could even cause us some health issues like dehydration, skin irritation and vitamin deficiencies. The simple solution? “Eating habit” It is best that we should change our eating habit, diet plan, and activities during this season. That’s why I listed here some of the best food to eat and to avoid during the summer season.
Include fruits and vegetables to your daily meal
Fruits and Vegetables are hydration hero, they can help our body to stay hydrated and cool during summer days. These type of food contain water and vitamins that can thin the blood and help our body to release heat. Fruits and vegetables like watermelon, oranges, coconuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, grapefruits, avocados and sweet corn are perfect for this season.
Minimize meat intake, instead eat fish and seafood
Red meat can cause your body temperature and blood pressure to rise. Too much intake of meat during summer season might cause sudden health issues and will make you irritable, uneasy and even aggressive. Fish and seafood are a good replacement instead.
Green tea keeps you hydrated
If you are looking for something exciting to drink other than water, Green tea is the perfect way to supplement your thirst especially when it is super hot outside. Studies show that green tea can help your metabolism, fight cancer, combat heart disease and lower cholesterol. If you don’t want to drink it hot, you can pop some ice in it to make it cold.
Adding more spices to your diet
Just like most Indians, Arabic and Mexicans, they add lots of spices in their meal. Studies show that adding spices to our meal can help our body to cool down by sweating. Spices include ginger, black pepper, curries, nutmeg, cinnamon, hot peppers and a lot more.
Yogurt is made for summer
What we can do is to freeze a cup of yogurt or make it cool, then it will be a good summer snack. Yogurt are best to keep our body in balance, it will help us to satisfy our tummy so we can avoid overloading on salty and high-calorie food.
A handful of almonds, cashews, and peanuts is also good during summer days. These nuts are a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which are good to lower bad cholesterol levels.
Avoid food that is high in sodium (salty food), red meat, dairy products and junk food. These type of food can help increase our body heat and can cause us a lot of discomfort during the summer season. Our goal is to eat right food that can help us to become healthy and counteract the scorching summer heat.
